Security Upgrades - PHP 5.4.28 to 5.4.29 & OpenSSL Patch

Recent security advisories have brought to light vulnerabilities within PHP 5.4.28. This was the latest version of PHP 5.4 and the version currently running as native/default on the server.

Additionally, another vulnerability has been identified in the OpenSSL library. Although the attack vector for this is network based and lower-risk as compared to the 'Heartbleed' vulnerability, we will be applying updates straight away.

MAINTENANCE WINDOW: 9.30 AM to 2.30 PM ( SL Time ) - 6th to 8th June 2014 CDT

REASON FOR MAINTENANCE: Various security updates.

SERVICES IMPACTED: Server Restart - Upgrades will run in the background, a brief 10-15 minute interruption is expected per server as the updates complete and the server is restarted.

During this maintenance, PHP will be updated to the latest 5.4 branch version, 5.4.29. There will be a brief interruption, but no impact to your PHP 5.4 based websites.

IMPORTANT Notice about PHP Version

As advised earlier in 2014, support for PHP 5.2/5.3 will be discontinued in December 2014.

Again, we do kindly remind customers who are running websites that do not currently support PHP 5.4.x or higher, to begin planning to achieve this by December 2014.

Beyond this date this Shared server will not support End of Life PHP versions 5.2 / 5.3 ( or below 5.4.29) , due to security & performance risks these pose.
